I wasn't allowed to get a college education so now that I'm out of the truth, I'm taking a meat cutting course by mail. It's going pretty well so far but the Postman is having some difficulty stuffing the larger cuts of beef through the mail slot in my front door. -

If you've raised your hand in a public meeting and made a comment that included the phrase " Circumcision of the heart"....You might be a JW.
If you've never eaten a meal in a restaurant that didn't involve shoving a half a dozen tables together to accommodate your group and spending 45 minutes afterward figuring out how to divide up the check among 17 people....you might be a JW.
If you've called yourself a Bible Student most of your adult life but have only read the Bible one selected verse at at time and only when directed to do so...you might be a JW.

A Question for Underground Apostates, How Many Are There?
by Village Idiot inwhen i first came to this forum i was of the belief that those of us who were still in due to family reasons were few in numbers perhaps one in a thousand in the jws.
soon i came to the realization that there were many more.
we have dozens of posters here who are mentally out but still in.

On a designated Sunday in March, everyone who knows TTATT should cough when the 3rd word of the 3rd paragraph is read during the Watchtower Study. -

JW literature cart spot pinched by another church group!
by stuckinarut2 insooooo funny!.
the spot that is used by the local cong in our town for the literature cart has been taken over by another church group!.
the witnesses arrived to set up, and another group was in the exact same spot, with a table, and brochures and a sign..... it will be a great thing as it dilutes the effectiveness of the witness activity, by making it look confusing to the local town people!.....

Cart Wars....this here town aint big enough for the both of us.
Perhaps they should bring in the Mafia to get them organized and settle this matter of territory encroachment just like the garbage men did.
Actually the JW's were probably glad to have a noble excuse to ditch service (opposition/persecution) and head to the nearest Starbucks.

Adam and Eve account does not meet the criterion of a story!
by economy inadam and eve story does not follow the common logic..
1) children would never believe a lie (especially from a stranger) against their father who has already proved a supreme benefactor to them!.
2) if even if they believed, normal course of action would have been to wait!

They make the claim that Adam was perfect. But it seems to me, once God removed one of Adam's ribs to make Eve, he became defective. -

The Canadians will be reminded to factor in the exchange rate when sending the Society their money. After that they'll be reprimanded for playing hockey during the intermission at the Sunday meetings and for continuing to spread that ugly rumor about Celine Dion having been publicly reproved when she's actually still a Regular Pioneer in good standing and wrote the lyrics to song number 60 in the new song book.

"Laughter trumps fear every time" - another method to chip away at WT's authority?
by sir82 insaw this article on slate.. it got me thinking - the wts are certainly providing lots of ammunition for spoofing.
talks about tight pants, singing trolleys, rubber faced buffoonery from lett...... what if we start encouraging jws to laugh at their leadership, instead of kowtowing in reverential awe?.
from the article:.

Comedy breaks down the resistance we sometimes have to seeing serious topics from another perspective.
The cartoon below is intended to break down the barrier between climate-change deniers and those wanting to do something about it. The use of humor simplifies a complex argument and sometimes opens, closed minds.

Theocratic warfare [AKA Lying for the Truth]
by TTWSYF inmy elder brother made the mistake of telling me about the wts policy of theocratic warfare.
he first called it 'lying for the truth' then he tried to tone it down to theocratic warfare.
he justifies this position by citing the scriptures that say do not throw pearls to the swine for they will trample them under foot and tear you to pieces.. my question is .

Is it considered ok to lie to rank and file JWs too?
The way I understood it, Theocratic Warfare had more to do with doing whatever was necessary to advance "kingdom interests" when dealing with opposers of the "truth" than it had to do with deceiving those in the congregation. They looked at omissions of information to be necessary at times when dealing with worldly authorities and often sited the example of Abraham passing Sarah off as his sister rather than his wife when dealing with Pharaoh and later Abimelech.
Unlike Abraham, who's wife Sarah was his half sister (which gave his claim an element of truth), the Watchtower Society has regularly lied to it's flock. They made claims about certain dates in millions upon millions of books and magazines or had their followers spend countless hours spreading certain doctrines to the far flung corners of the globe. Later they changed them because time has proven them wrong and they falsely blamed it on God for not having originally provided them a bright enough light all those years ago. The omission of information came into play when they explained how it was they decided to change what was once called "the truth". Yes, their teachings were wrong but they lied to save face and that isn't theocratic warfare.

Has anyone heard any Watchtower PR spin or censorship advisory announcement at the kingdom hall regarding the child abuse story on NPR?
by Island Man ini remember some years ago when barbara did an expose of the child abuse issue on one of the networks, watchtower used the elders to inform the congregations not to view the program that was to be aired.
.
after this recent expose on npr, has there been any official watchtower release read as an announcement at the kingdom hall?.

Most JW's aren't in the religion because of the facts....if they were, they'd have left long ago. They want an illusion and will ignore anything that threatens that illusion. They are quite prepared to cut off anyone who tries to make them face the facts and do so regularly and systematically. -

The message to young people was not to bother with furthering their education. The message to the parents of those young people was, since the end is so close, don't worry about saving for your retirement.
The guys who wrote that stuff were taken care of in their old age by our parents donations and they all died. Unfortunately many of their JW followers banked on not ever growing old or ever needing anything for retirement. At least we were young enough to recover from that part of it even if our earning potential was diminished by listening to this man made directive about education.
